Learn how to use and maximize your benefits
How do I make the most out of my doctor visit?
Whether you are sick or having a routine check-up, you probably go into the doctor’s office with a lot of questions. Taking time to prepare for your appointment will make all the difference.
Before your visit
Write down what you’ll say and what you want to ask during your appointment.
Medical history:
Tell your doctor about past or current health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, or if you’re pregnant.
Allergies:
Discuss any allergies you may have.
Medications and supplements:
Know the names of all prescription and over-the-counter medications you’re taking. Don’t forget vitamins and herbal or other supplements you may be taking.
Health insurance:
Keep your health plan ID card handy at all times.

- Are any tests needed?

- If your condition doesn’t improve, how long should you wait before calling back?
If medication is prescribed
- Can you take it with other medicines?
- How will it interact with vitamins or other supplements?
- What dosage is prescribed?
- Are there special instructions, such as “take on an empty stomach”?
- Are there any side effects?
- Can you take a generic version?
After your visit
